First amendment to Decree-Law no. 30/2011, of July 27, Conditions and Procedures to be Observed Regarding the Import of Motor Vehicles

This law makes the first amendment to Decree-Law Law no. 30/2011, of July 27, Conditions and Procedures to be Observed Regarding the Importation of Motor Vehicles.

Decree-Law no. 30/2011, of July 27, approved the approved conditions and procedures for the import of motor vehicles. More than ten years after the approval of the aforementioned law, it is clear that the a need to introduce stricter conditions for the import of vehicles and to control import operations more effectively operations in order to ensure the protection of consumers and the environment. To this end, this decree-law prohibits the import of light passenger and mixed vehicles that do not comply with the technical conditions for circulation in national territory and creates a regime to punish non-compliance with the rules of the rules contained in this decree-law, extending its scope to motorcycles. The procedure for vehicles is also simplified, eliminating prior authorization and concentrating the verification of the legal import requirements and concentrating the verification of the legal import requirements in a single moment.
