USAID, the Customs Authority (CA), and the Timor-Leste Business Women Association (AEMTL) partnered to launch an inclusive Trade Talk event. Around 80 AEMTL members, broker association representatives, and traders gathered to discuss trade processes and engage with CA and AEMTL leaders. Discussions focused on Timor-Leste's progress towards ASEAN membership and WTO agreements to enhance competitiveness and open new markets for Timorese products. USAID Mission Director Robert Barton emphasized how inclusivity is key to the Agency’s development approach, noting that a diverse economy fosters innovation, resilience, and growth. The event reaffirmed USAID’s dedication to improving trade efficiency and transparency, supporting the CA's goal of making trade faster, simpler, and fairer.
