Top Import Commodities
Timor-Leste imported $1.1 billion worth of goods in 2022. The top import commodities of Timor-Leste are refined petroleum, rice, cars, excavation machinery, and cement . These commodities account for more than 40% of the total imports value. The main sources of imports for Timor-Leste are Indonesia, China, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia. Timor-Leste's imports reflect its dependence on fossil fuels for energy, food for consumption, and machinery and materials for infrastructure development.
Top Export Commodities
Total value of exports was $513 million in 2022, making it the number 170 exporter in the world. The main export commodities of Timor-Leste are crude petroleum, petroleum gas, coffee, vanilla and scrap iron. These products account for more than 90% of its total exports and are mostly destined to Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Canada and the United States. Timor-Leste also exports some other products such as textile articles, fish, vegetable saps and extracts, oil seeds and vehicles.
